I have worked as a licensed bodyworker since 1998, a posture and fitness instructor since 2013, and a facilitator of the Work that Reconnects since 2018. My recent studies have taking me deep into the elemental health sciences through the lens of Ayurveda. I have been fascinated by the human body since high school anatomy class, Graduated Pre-Med with Honors from William and Mary in 1995, and am passionate about addressing the foundational causes of dis-ease. I am also a singer and song carrier, a mother and wife, a social and environmental justice advocate, a permaculture designer, yogi, a bird watcher, and an outdoor adventurer.
My teachers:
It would be impossible to name all of the amazing teachers that have guided me on my journey. I have been actively studying the human body since the 1980’s, when I took an AP anatomy class in High School (Shout out to Mr. Cooper), and then went on to be Pre-Med in College.
I got my massage certification in 1998 with my main teachers being Jocelyn Olivier and David Weinstock. Since then I have continued my education with them and others, including studying Thai Massage in Thailand, working with Fred Mitouer, and most recently developing a completely new level of awareness of Elemental medicine and bodywork through the lens of Tibetan Ayurveda and Lymphatic health with Deanna Batdorff.
Early on in my career I realized that bodywork was not going to help people unless they made changes to how they were using their bodies day to day. This led me to study with Esther Gokhale and become a teacher of her amazing and effective approach to posture education and transformation, The Gokhale Method. From 2013-2023 I was a certified Gokhale Method Instructor and taught this method. Though I am no longer maintaining that certification, I deeply believe in that work, encourage people to pursue it in person and online, and her wisdom infuses all of my work.
Of course, body healing is not fully realizable without the healing of the spirit. The works of Joanna Macy speak to me deeply, and I have been a facilitator of her work, “The Work that Reconnects” since 2018. I have been fortunate enough to study with Joanna herself as well as with Lydia Violet Hartoonian, Molly Brown, Constance Washburn, and Mutima Imani. It is deep joy to offer this work to my community. I combine that work with song, and received great support in my song-leading journey from studying with Lisa G. Littlebird.
